Aperi Wiki Home Aperi Meetings Aperi Development Meetings

Dial in numbers:

Toll Free: 877-421-0029 International: 770-615-1246 Passcode: 003399

Attendees:

Brocade (John Crandall), IBM (Al Heitman, Dave Wolfe, Chris King, Todd Singleton), LSI (Jenny Monesson)

Minutes:

  • Project Leader Notes:
    • 2008 planning (R0.5)
      • Al met with Martine last week to get the standards work, PRTF and Cosmos integration items into the schedule.
      • Al reviewed legal timeline with Tom last week. We need to watch 3rd party code or this will become critical path. We need to use existing approved Eclipse 3rd party code or review the legal license prior to using it.
      • Still need milestones for Virtual Fabric / FC Security spec. from Brocade. John will provide that soon.
      • Still need milestones for Linux HA Cluster support from Novell. Robert indicated he could provide that in May.
      • Ramani is writing the IDVT test plan. Ramani and Al will conduct SAN Simulator IDVT. Ramani has a machine we can use for running IDVT and we can use IBM Almaden’s Research Center’s SAN for live snapshot testing. Al will locate another machine to use for testing. Ramani indicated that there are no new 3rd party libraries for this contribution and this contribution is in the scope of the original legal approval. Only need to get committer community to do a code review before we release it. Al will initiate committer code review once Ramani gets the code checked in and we get partially through the IDVT test cycle.
      • Community member, Amudhan Gunasekaran, interested in implementing SMIS Fabric Discovery. He can work through Todd and other committers to get his contribution committed to CVS. We will wait to offer him committer access until he gains more experience with the Aperi code base.
      • Al updated the R5 schedule in the wiki here -> Schedule
    • Aperi Committers:
      • The following committers still need the legal “paperwork” completed before full committer access is granted.
        • John Crandall
        • Jenny Monesson
  • Release Engineer Notes (Todd):
    • Development environment instructions need to be updated - Todd is investigating. This work is becoming hotter since there is someone from the community who wants to implement the SMIS Fabric discovery.
    • Todd ran into a problem with compilation on the new build system. The compile of 3rd party source is failing. Todd has fixed this by building the 3rd party source locally and put binary in location for official build. Al indicated that this is a good workaround but we should dig into the root cause of the error. Al will look at the logs and work with Todd outside this meeting.
  • Aperi Downloads:
  • Development items/issues:
    • SSO – Todd may write a simple app to use as a test for the SSO client which could be used as a starting point for the LIC sample application / unit test framework. Todd will look into the schedule to see if he is still on track.
    • LIC – Dave is working on LIC registration which uses both a CIM space and XML based datamodel. There is a need for both since we may want to launch applications that do not have a CIM agent – like higher level apps or peer applications. This plan services both needs. (Both with CIM and without.) Dave and Martine are still trying to figure out how to standardize the XML datamodel. XML is push model where CIM is pull model.
    • Virtual Fabric / FC Security spec – John just getting back and no update this week.
    • Linux HA cluster support – no update.
  • IDVT:
  • ID:
    • Chris is working on the ID plan update. He expects to have the ID plan updated and out for review in the next few weeks.
    • Chris is also reviewing the SAN Simulator updates that Ramani provided. Plans to complete the SAN Simulator ID review this week. He is making updates directly to the publication source.
  • Project Schedule:
  • Action Items:
Item Owner Target Status
Obtain two mentors Al 06/27/08 Per new development process rules, we need to obtain two project mentors. Harm Sluiman is one. Discussed with Tom last week. Bjorn has a list of mentors we can use. Al to follow up with Bjorn.
Document Control Al 05/29/08 Write up text for Aperi document control. Al discussed with Tom last week to get clarification. Al will write up a process to get documents reviewed and approved.
Post the new tutorials out on Eclipse Live. Al 05/30/08 Al and Allen M. discussed last week. Al to post to EclipseLive and update the links on the Aperi website to the new location. We are still waiting for the SAN Simulator tutorial which is expected on May 9. Al can post that one as well. Al is working with the Eclipse foundation on some questions on how to post to EclipseLive. He is still waiting for a response from them.
SNIA Scalefest San Simulator Snapshot. Tom 02/29/08 Ramani has the snapshot. Al will get status from Ramani.
Update Aperi websites Al 06/20/08 Al met with Ryan Doherty and Allen Marin to go over issues with the web-site. Some of the web pages have not been updated for 6 months or more. Al will be updating the web pages to get them current over the next few weeks. Al updated some last week and still has more to do before all pages will be current.
