Attendees:

IBM (Al Heitman, Dave Wolfe, Russ Warren, Todd Singleton)

Minutes:

  • Project Leader Notes:
    • Misc. Project Info:
      • Hans has retired from IBM to pursue other opportunities. Al thanked Hans for his contributions to the Aperi project over the years.
      • It was announced in last week’s community meeting that Allen Marin is leaving Aperi project. Al thanked Allen for his efforts on the Aperi project over the last 2 years. Russ indicated he is looking for a replacement for Allen.
    • 2008 planning (R0.5)
      • The schedule has gone through some churn over the last week. Al met with Todd and Dave last week to go over the updates with them. Al has a meeting later today to review the legal process estimates with Tom. The major milestones include SAN Simulator R2 in 3Q. The LIC / SSO is and Aperi 0.5 will move out to 2Q09. Al plans to post to Aperi site this week.
      • Al needs to get with Martine to get his items into the schedule for Cosmos/LIC, etc.
      • Still need milestones for Virtual Fabric / FC Security spec. from Brocade. John indicated he would provide that once he returned to work.
      • Still need milestones for Linux HA Cluster support from Novell. Robert indicated he could provide that the first part of May.
      • Al met with Ramani last week on the SAN Simulator R2. Ramani is writing the IDVT test plan. Ramani and colleagues will provide 75% of IDVT testing while Al will provide 25%. Ramani has a machine we can use for running IDVT and we can use IBM Almaden’s Research Center’s SAN for live snapshot testing. Al will locate another machine to use for testing. Ramani indicated that there are no new 3rd party libraries for this contribution. Al will initiate committer code review once Ramani gets the code checked in and we get partially through the IDVT test cycle.
    • Aperi Committers:
      • The following committers still need the legal “paperwork” completed before full committer access is granted.
        • John Crandall
        • Jenny Monesson
  • Release Engineer Notes (Todd):
    • Development environment instructions need to be updated - Todd is investigating.
    • Todd ran into a problem with compilation on the new build system. The compile of 3rd party source is failing. Todd plans to build locally and put binary in location for official build. Al indicated that this is a good workaround but we should dig into the root cause of the error. Perhaps the problem could affect us in the future.
  • Aperi Downloads:
    • Latest stats
      • Download stats chart has been updated with April data. There is a link in the agenda for this meeting.
      • The first slide shows the Aperi downloads by country. There were 4 new countries that downloaded Aperi for the first time in March and April. Also, India passed Germany for the #2 spot for most downloads.
      • The second slide shows the April totals and running total. In April, there were 241 total downloads. There were 108 downloads of the SAN Simulator and 133 for the SRM framework. To date there have been 2,759 downloads of the Aperi open source products.
    • Aperi webinar
  • Development items/issues:
    • SSO – Todd made good progress with Mike McIntosh on SSO. Mike wants Todd to help with documentation, getting good help from Mike – todd can document the process and donate these documents to the Higgins project. Todd will use the Aperi SRM as server, Aprei UI as client. Todd may write a home-grown app to use as a test for the SSO client which could be used as a starting point for the LIC sample application / unit test framework. Todd will work with Dave to plan that out.
  • IDVT:
  • ID:
    • Chris is working on the ID plan update. Chris also tested the help system conversions from Java based to Eclipse based help to validate the process.
    • Chris is also reviewing the SAN Simulator updates that Ramani provided.
