Aperi Wiki Home Community Building

This page is for discussion and tracking of the Aperi Education modules we want to create. The intent is to provide material to assist consumers with various tasks. These are intended to be short modules (under 30 minutes). Here is a list for discussion / modification / expansion:

  • How to use BIRT with Aperi
  • How to configure the data source for the Aperi repository, how to switch to the various perspectives, etc.
  • Programmer's manual for the data model to assist report designers in figuring out what queries to write for their reports.

Flash Demos:

Series of 5-7 minute flash demos on how to install and use Aperi:

  1. Bare system to running GUI install on Linux
  2. Bare system to running GUI install on Windows
  3. Configure (pre-installed) CIMOM and run discovery/probe on a storage frame (no subnet scan, no SLP)
    1. Add/configure a CIMOM and discover devices from CIMOM
    2. Probe discovered Storage/Tape device
    3. Show in topology, and disk manager views
  4. Enable logging and tracing for problem determination
  5. Configure SNMP fabric switch and run discovery/probe
    1. Show in topology, and fabric manager views
  6. Install tape discovery and probe
    1. Show in topology, and fabric manager views
  7. Configure/Discover and probe a NAS device
    1. Show in topology and asset report views
  8. Create volumes, assign ports to hosts on a storage frame
  9. Create zones, assign hosts ports
  10. View storage capacity reports (classic and/or BIRT?)
  11. Customize and upload report via V0.3 BIRT report manager
