DTP project meeting, January 23, 2014

Back to DTP Meetings, 2014 page

Attendees

  • Linda Chan (Actuate)
  • Brian Payton (IBM)

Minutes

  • Brian has committed the new DB2 for LUW enablement implementation. Linda said she will try it out sometime next week.
  • Brian made a change to the org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.sqm.core plugin to add (empty) implementations for the methods added to the JDBC 4.0 interfaces. This should allow the plugin to be compiled with JDK 1.6. However this caused problems in the DTP build, since the PDE-based build is different from the build in the IDE, and some of the plugin metadata wasn't set correctly. He is still trying to sort this out to get a clean build.
  • The build team is considering moving their open-source builds (BIRT at least) to the Eclipse Hudson build server. This implies moving the build to the Eclipse CBI (Common Build Infrastructure). Brian and Linda discussed this and decided that if BIRT is moved over to the CBI, DTP should be moved also. This should make the build more accessible.
  • BIRT is also planning to move the Git repository from git.eclipse.org to GitHub. This is to encourage more contributions from the development community. We decided that there isn't much advantage to moving DTP to GitHub, so we will take a wait-and-see position on this, to see what the BIRT experience is.
